A lifetime of fixing
Got a handyman question? Like I always say:
“Advice is always free!” |
I’ve been a tinkerer and a fixit-man since I was 12, when my father, a fixer himself, bought a hardware store on 50th & France in Edina. I dived right in, helping my father by repairing windows and screens. I learned quickly, and over time I graduated to fixing anything that came in, at a time when people preferred to repair items rather than replace them, such as lamps, lawnmowers, and small engines.
By 15, I was doing service calls, showing up with a smile at the homes of folks who couldn’t or didn’t want to leave their house. I’d help elderly neighbors get their air conditioners in and out of the window, swap out storm doors and screen doors, and fix windows that were too large to be brought into the hardware store. During this time and the many years that followed, I cultivated relationships within the community and built trust among neighbors. I gained the respect of property owners and managers who entrusted myriad projects to me, including turning their property and readying it for rental, which I continue to do to this day. Whether you’re a neighbor with a one-off job or a “honey-do” list, or a property owner who needs a go-to guy, the Fixit Handyman is equipped to tackle any number of household or property tasks (and if I can’t do a job myself, I know someone who can!)
